What is KOLAS International Accredited Testing Agency?

It refers to a testing agency that is officially recognized for its quality system and test capabilities in accordance with the requirements of the Framework Act on National Standards and KS Q ISO/IEC 17025.

What is the KOLAS testing agency certification system?

The system officially recognizes that a recognized body, which adheres to legal or international standards, has the capability to conduct tests in a specific field. This recognition is achieved by requiring a qualified evaluator to assess the quality system and technical capabilities of the testing agency.

Testing is a technical operation in which one or more characteristics of a specific product, process, or service are measured according to a prescribed procedure.

    Establishment of an accreditation system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011 requirements

    KS Q ISO/IEC 17025 is recognized through the evaluation of the accredited organization, in accordance with the requirements announced by the head of the accredited organization.

MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement)

The test report bearing the KOLAS logo is internationally certified in accordance with international agreements between APAC (Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Organization Cooperation).

As of 2023, 55 testing agency accreditation bodies from 33 countries have joined the APAC MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement), and as of 2021, 104 testing and accreditation bodies from 105 countries have joined the ILAC MRA. These bodies have officially agreed to mutually accept each other's accredited reports.

On June 9, 2010, the Technical Center for High-Performance Valves (Dong-A University Industry-Academy Cooperation) obtained "KOLAS International Accredited Testing Institution Recognition." ABS approved testing laboratory certificate

Designated as an ABS
approved testing laboratory

  • The Center was designated as an ABS Authorized Service Provider by the American Bureau of Shipping on July 26, 2021.
  • This achievement marks Korea's first in mechanical engineering as the ABS-approved No. 1 testing agency.
  • The ABS approval tests conducted by the Center cover four categories: flow rate test, fire safety test, cryogenic test, and hydraulic test. The validity period of these tests is maintained for three years from the designated date.
  • Tests in four areas, including flow tests conducted by the Center, are recognized to be similar to those conducted by ABS itself.
